FRESH TRACKS AND RRG LOG- MAY 2009

May -  3  Drove along north and east sides of Fresh Tracks and through on Road JJ.  No activity, but there are beautiful and plentiful wild flowers and the grass is green!

Also drove by RRG on road DD so saw the south and east sides.  There are quite a few prairie dogs out and several new holes.  A hawk was hunting over by the house.  Also lots of smaller birds, including a good sized flock of Lark Buntings.

May 11 – Drove through Fresh Tracks on Road JJ and along south side of RRG on Road DD.  All okay.  The Orioles are about the last birds to come back but they are here now and for the first time, they are sipping nectar from my Hummingbird feeders.

May 22 – Drove along East and North sides of Fresh tracks and through on road JJ.  More pretty flowers and lots of birds.  Fence work is progressing.  On the way to Fresh Tracks, passed the eagle nest and there was a fluff of white!  So there are babies in the nest now.

May 24 – Checked RRG from road CC.

May 29 – Checked both Fresh Tracks and RRG.  All okay.  We have had several small rains, so the grass and flowers are still doing well.

May 31 – Not on RRG but in a CRP field close by a Pronghorn had her baby today.

I am sending some pictures of the wild flowers on Fresh Tracks.  Enjoy!  Oh yes, I forgot - The fence project on Fresh Tracks is finished and looks good.  It should keep any wandering cattle out.
