March 2008

THIRTY-THREE-BAR RANCH

DON AND LOLLY MING

MONITORING FRESH TRACKS AND RRG

Mar. 2 Drove by RRG. Saw a few prairie dogs. Water still running and gate still open

Mar. 12 Went around fence between Fresh Tracks and Wiley pastures. Add a few posts and wired wire to old posts where needed. Drove though Fresh Tracks on Road JJ. Saw 10 or 12 antelope that were moving between Fresh Tracks and Robbins.

Mar. 14 Drove along west side of RRG and checked fence. No activity there.

Also saw Fresh tracks from west side and drove through on Road JJ. No activity

Mar. 17 Thru Fresh Tracks - no activity

Mar. 22 Drove thru Fresh Tracks and around west side. Went around fence between Fresh Tracks and Robbins south pasture. Wired up loose wires.

Mar. 23 Drove along fence between Robbins and Fresh Tracks south end and looked at Prairie Dog towns - saw no activity. Didn’t look like any active holes.Went by RRG and shut gate. People are getting ready to turn cattle out and that open is just an open invitation for wandering cattle to go into the pasture. Water tank was full. Did see quite a few prairie dogs - saw more to the east of the house than we had seen for some time. Saw two big bunches of antelope between Fresh Tracks and RRG.

Mar. 28 Went through Fresh Tracks. All okay.

Robbins have put cattle in, grass is trying to green up but, it has been cool and dry. County graded road through Fresh Tracks early in the month. Someone had driven through on Road JJ to Robbins gate and turned around. Kildees and Curlews are back.

Oh yes, the buffalo shoot out was in south park as Robert told you. The buffalo had wandered through the fences onto private land and apparently the neighbors didn’t like that so some thirty people went out and shot them, according to the LaJunta paper. Dude and his buffalo are doing very well, but his wander too and some of thee neighbors don’t like that either. He does conduct buffalo hunts and has quite a few of them I think. I know he has lots of buffalo.
