FRESH TRACKS AND RRG LOG – August 2009
Aug 5 -- Checked both Fresh Tracks and RRG today. No activity except saw quite a few birds and prairie dogs on RRG. The prairie dogs seem to be spreading to the east and south as there are quite a few new holes. The grass is greener after last weeks rains and there are quite a few wild flowers blooming.
Aug 12 – Nothing different on Fresh Tracks today
Aug 13 – No activity on RRG as I checked it from road CC
Aug 19 –No activity on RRG or Fresh Tracks. On the way to RRG, I passed several ponds and saw ducks and Great Blue Herons. They are starting to head south. In my yard, I have two Humming Birds nests and each one has two little birds in it. They are such fun to watch.
Aug 26 – Today I went to Fresh Tracks and RRG and on my travels, I saw birds – Ferruginous, Red Tailed and Sparrow Hawks: Ring Neck and Mourning Doves; Meadowlarks, Crows, Ravens, Horned Larks, Sparrows, Lark Buntings, Kingbirds, and Magpies and probably several other kinds. Then too, I saw Cotton Tail and Jack Rabbits, Lizards, and Pronghorns. On RRG 5 Pronghorns ran across the road in front of me and of course, there I also saw Prairie Dogs and Dog Owls.
Aug 30 – Drove along the west side of Fresh Tracks through the old Prairie Dog town. Did not see any evidence of dogs on either side of the fence but did see several pairs of Dog Owls. Nothing new on RRG
